Greyhound cabbage

Hello Veg growers, I’m a novice so can anyone please advise we have grown lots of large greyhound cabbage plants🥬 but no hearts have formed . The plants are loose leafed and quite tall . My question is should I harvest, thin the plants as they are quite densely packed now or wait for hearts.they were planted as autumn winter crop but have let them grow to see what they do. Can we eat the leaves as they are..? Any advice much appreciated.

Were they firmed into get good hearts, mine are in the garden from pots, and expect them to be ready by July/August at the latest.

I don't want to hijack the thread but would planting any cabbage variety to close, stop the head from developing.  I was going to plant some closer together and harvest as mini veg, would that work....
