What has been digging?

Started mowing the lawn and came across this hole under the fence! Strangely the hole is bigger on my side than my neighbours. We have fields at the back and there is no vegetation other than grass on either side of the fence here. Looks too big for rabbits? I can’t see any prints, no digging anywhere else and no pooh! Never had this before, so curious what it could be? Look familiar to anyone?

    Fox or badger maybe?

Maybe, I thought a badger would have made more mess.. scratching in the lawn etc... maybe it is just a fat rabbit lol!

Probably a daft idea, but have you looked closely at the fence? You might get lucky and find some hairs, unless the wood is very smooth.

No hairs sadly. We’ve never had anything dig like that before so was just a bit surprised to find it. I filled it in and it didn’t come back last night so will have to see...
