Can anyone help identify this plant?

It's coming up like a weed everywhere and seems to be able to grow off of the smallest root. Unfortunately this means that when we've transplanted things from one area to another we inadvertently propagated the damn stuff!! It is a right pain to get out as you have to find every part of the root and it spreads like wildfire and had even gone under our paving. Many thanks in advance.
