Creeping lawn weed

I have a lawn weed that I'm struggling to identify - it keeps popping up in new places and I'm clueless as to what it is or how to deal with it. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks.

    It looks too small and dainty to be everlasting sweet pea, and I don't think it would invade a lawn like that. But maybe something else in the pea family?

    It's started flowering in places - tiny purple flowers. It's reeeeally starting to take over the lawn too, despite close mowing.

    Looks like Common Vetch (Vicia sativa).

    I agree ... purple vetch. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
