Help with little flys

Hi everyone.

I hope you can help. I've got some strawberry plants in my porch in the back and I keep find these little flys below. They seem to be growing in number and I'm finding a dozen a day.

What can I do? I have a cat so I can't have anything toxic to the plants or animals.

Most likely Fungus Gnats. Can already be in soils. I get them every now and then, but nothing to worry about. Over watering also encourages more of them, so make sure you are not having water sitting at the bottom of pots.

I think they’re fungus gnats also called (sciarid flies) ... they breed in compost.

I think you should harden your strawberry plants off so that they can live outside, then the flies won’t be so happy there.
