Jade Plant

Hi, I have had my Jade Plant for about 16 years. The actual plant it is about 4 feet high now, stands 6 feet in its pot, and has a trunk 19" in diameter.  I was wondering if I should re pot it and when is the best time I last did this about 10 years ago. The plant is covered in pale pink star like flowers twice a year this happens October and June and they last a couple of months at least. Do all Jade Trees bear flowers as often as this? I don't want to stop it flowering by re potting at the wrong time. Also, I have a few yellow leaves at the moment, does anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Jade as in Crassula Ovata? Just checking as a few plants get called Jade. Normally they flower in winter after the shortest day. It's possible you're creating conditions that are tricking it into flowering at the wrong time. One of mine is about the same size and age and is a regular winter flowerer. Do you feed the plant at all and how much do you prune it each year? I've found a regular prune and decent feed regime seem to reduce the need to repot. It also helps to flush the soil through with rain water a couple of times a year to reduce the build up of salts and minerals.

    Do you have a photo?
My Jade has white flowers over the winter period.
It is under 2ft in its pot so I would love to see yours!

  • Mine is about 3 feet tall and also flowers regularly in winter only. It possibly needs repotting but I'm afraid it's unlikely to happen! @wild edges I've never pruned mine so would love advice on the way to do this.
