Tree ideas

After some ideas please. I have a unused corner spot in my garden that I would like to fill with a potted tree. Something with a bit of colour and will do well in a decent sized pot. No conifers though please. I am going to put a nice bench next to it so it can't be to big. 
This area gets sun in the afternoon.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

If you don't want it to grow big, and you want colour, Nerium Oleanders can be grown as standards. They are suitable for container planting. Provided that is a sheltered corner they should be fine. You may need to throw a fleece over it in extreme frost over the winter months.
