Inspiration needed

I would like to divide our garden into two. There was previous a picket fence dividing but like the idea of either Hornbeam hedge or horizontal espalier fruit trees. Hopefully keeping to a height of around 5ft. I have attached a pic and it would go either side of the arch?

I would go hornbeam. Why keep to 5ft, that's kind of low but not so low you can see over? One idea could be over time to train it as a pleached hedge, the same height as the fence behind, and with a bare stem to about 4 feet. Then plant a yew hedge behind the hornbeam's bare legs so you have the contrast and rhythm of the vertical stems against it. Then in the area behind, create a lush secluded garden with a reflection pool.

Great ideas thank you, the tiles on the left at the back when finished is a raised koi carp pond (still under construction 🔨 as is the rest!) I love pleached so hornbeam seems a good option. Not sure how to do it it but will research.
