I bought this brown blub from ideal home on 6th April and now blooming but smell is awful what is it called?

     Sauromatum venosum?

    Take it back and tell them it has gone off :D
    I am sorry joking at your expense,  they are lovely looking and the leaves and stems will be very nice too.

    But they should come with a warning.

    A family friend got some many years ago and thinking they were not hardy grew them on in pots in a bedroom.  She said the smell was a bit worrying until they realized where it was coming from.
     
    Stick it outside, they are quite hardy.
    When the flowers die it gets a big clump of seeds which germinate readily.

    Thank you all. all 8 pots gone in garden now... no wonder i got them cheap from the seller... he never said about the smell just how pretty it looked and showed me the photo. i bought 8 of them.... more fool me... lesson learned..

    Good morning dear gardener.
    Thank you so much for all your kind advice. Will try the non  chemical treatment first but will also take some cuttings for propagation just in case.
