... but does anyone recognise these tiny seedlings that have been popping up all over a part of my bed? Could they possibly be cerinthe? Can’t think what else was there last year...

    I don’t think so.  I don’t know what they are though.

    Loads of ‘em! Just in one, pretty large patch... I’ll just have to wait and see...

    Panicum, verbena bon, echinacea, a yellowy euphorbia, choc cosmos. Could it be echinacea? Has a very distinctive bluey-pinky shade to the leaves...

    Could be the echinacea,   Definitely not the others.  Leave them to grow on a bit more, they are a bit dark. watch out for slugs they love it.

     Verbena bonarensis look like that
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    I second verbena, little serrated edge tothe leaves

    Ooh look at this photo from @Peanuts3! It looks like they're verbena! I pulled them all up last year, as they didn't really go in that bed...
