Newly planted clematis

What can I do to save my newly planted clematis? Leaves has small holes and are purple/Browning.

    I shouldn't worry about it too much. Have you planted it deeply and watered it well. It needs 2 gallons (big watering can full) twice a week in warm weather. You also need to very carefully cut the blue ties off the stems and gently retie with twine. You also need about three taller canes in a fan shape behind the plant and keep retying the plant to the canes as it grows.  Hope this helps, good luck.

  • I'm in NC. Heavy clay soil. Amended with claybreaker that contains compost.
