Feather Grass

Morning all

i am relatively new to gardening, other than mowing the grass, it involved not much more until I recently moved, so I will be picking the brains of everyone so will apologise now.

First question i on I have this what I think is feather grass, but looks untidy due to a rough winter, what can be done to clean it up, and promote groet? How often do you trim it

very stout gloves, This sleeves and eye protection ( if you feel the need ) and get inthere with a pair of secateurs and cut out the old stems

  • Will that promote new growth?

it doesn't take much to promote new growth, but it'll look much tidier and the new flowers will look much better without those old stems in the picture.

Sometimes the old stems come away with a good hard tug if you get your hands down near the base.

beware , the foliage has tiny saw like edges to it. Don't forget the long sleeves and stout gloves
