Bougainvillea Pests

rebs74rebs74 Posts: 3
I have been growing a Bougainvillea in my conservatory for a couple of years now. It’s been quite successful until recently when it developed aphids and tiny white powdery looking flies. Now the leaves are drooping and falling and I can’t seem to get rid of them! The flowers seem unaffected, it’s just the leaves. Please help!

Hello, could you post a photo of the powdery things? That will help ID them. Try standing the plant outside and hosing it down to wash off the bugs. If that doesn’t work, try spraying with a weak soapy solution, ideally using an eco washing up liquid.

What Nollie recommends will be the best way forward. In warm weather, plants will start to grow faster, and aphids will very quickly feeding off your plants. Knock them off with a spray bottle set on jet spray or use a hose to wash down the leaves.
