Help with tree please

Hi I had to cut down a tree in front of the one below will this grow back??
If it does I want it to grow even should I cut back the left side of it? Or will the bald side catch up?

    I can’t see what sort of tree it is ... a lot depends on that. Can you give us a close up of leaves please?

    I'm afraid the picture is still not clear to be sure what it is. Could be a Bay Laurel, Laurus Nobilis. Check on Google to see if they look similar. If so, they can be cut back if you need to.

    I agree ... can’t really tell what it is. 

    Theres a gardening saying ‘Growth follows the knife’ meaning that pruning stimulates new shoots, so although it seems counter intuitive, cut back hardest in the area where you want the most growth.
