  • Dordogne gardener said: does anyone know what this plant is- I must have liked it because I stuck it in a pot and it has rooted- I haven't got it anywhere else in the garden so don't have any idea where it should go or what it is- can anyone help?

Have those leaves in the pot dropped of it from last year?
I see what you mean Hosta,  I could agree but not from those dead leaves.?

  • Thank you all- I think the leaves have been there all winter- as has the bulby thing on the top- I can't imagine why I would take a cutting from a horse chestnut tree though- it was more likely taken from a friend's garden somewhere. I did plant some peony bushes which got destroyed and dug up by our puppy- I wonder if its one of those- I have left it in the pot and given it a drink and covered it with a polythene bag and will leave it for now- see what it does in the autumn, It has started to develop roots but not enough to plant it out- especially if it turns out to be a large tree. The leaves in the pot could have blown in during the time it's been outdoors all winter. Thanks for your help everyone
