I have an Acer in a container and I would like to plant it in the ground , it is in leaf now but would really like to move it out full afternoon sun to a sheltered spot,is it too late to do this given its in leaf.
You can plant pot-grown acers at any time except when the ground is frozen. It's only bare-rrot trees you have to plant when dormant, so doing it now should be fine. It will just need delicate handling to avoid knocking off as little of the new growth as possible.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
