Name this tree please

I’d love to know the name of this tree in my front garden.  There are many round where I live which makes me think they were all planted when the houses were built around 1950-1960. I moved in here in late 2014.

    It probably a apple tree or crap apple or other in the prunes family

    Thanks Perki. That’s that seems very likely indeed. I’ve never seen any fruit on it though. 

    When I moved in it didn’t do much so we cut it back a bit two years ago as branches looked like they’d come down in the wind and it has flowered beautifully since.

    Looks like a Crab Apple to me too 😊 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Thanks Dove. I am very happy with it, lovely blossom and a gnarly trunk.  In the evening when the sun is shining it casts dappled shade on my living room wall which is lovely.

    Malus floribunda.... introduced from Japan in the 1860's..
