What is this plant/weed with a tuber?

These keep popping up in my garden.  Anybody know what it is?

    Do you have a tree peony? I think that's what it is. A seedling, I mean.

    I agree, pot it up asap, although it looks like you've broken the mainroot.

    No tree peony near where I pulled it up.

    It’s in the compost heap now as I thought it was a weed!

    There are loads more out the front bursting through my thick layer of weed protection mulch ... is this an aggressive plant?

    Do you have any trees nearby it looks a bit like a chestnut to me??

    Definitely a tree peony seedling. There must have been a parent plant nearby at some point. Have you moved in recently? They can take a year or more to germinate so perhaps there was one there in the past.

    Been here nearly 10 years now.
    Right at the other end of our house the same shaped leaves are growing. Here are some more pics.

    My other half - who isn't great with plant names - reckons there was a peony there at one point but I honestly can't remember it.  Also the one from the first picture (the one I pulled up with the tuber) was from the other side of the house ... 50 metres aaway ...
