Help with Plant Identification Please?

Hello, I recently bought these four plants at a charity plant stall for a pound. They seem to be remnants of old Christmas stock. Can anyone tell me what they are please? 'Number One' had been covered in faux snow. Will that damage the plant? It seems pretty stuck on and I'm not sure how to get it off. 'Number Three' had been covered in gold glitter, but that seems to be washing off. The 'Number Two's' seem to be the same type of plant. I would like to identify them so I know how best to care for them. Thanks for your help!:)

Hello Swan Lake, number 2 looks like conifer, possibly cedrus, number 3 a yew. Pass on number 1 l'm afraid.

    Numbers 1 & 3 are Juniperus chinensis 'Pyramidalis' .

The two '2's are probably Juniperus communis .

Artificial snow is often very finely blended wood-pulp with fatty acids ; apparently Calcium carbonate gives the white colouration . Removal may be tricky .
Maybe a weak solution of washing-up liquid would help , but attempting this without damaging the foliage may prove difficult .

  • Thank you for your replies. I'll have a closer look at the plants you've named. Looking very closely at them this morning, number one and three do look the same. I always love buying the 'mystery plants' at the charity sales. You never know what you'll end up with. :D

Interesting about the artificial snow. I wonder if I could leave it on and the plant will 'grow out of it' so to speak?
