Rose, scabiosa and?

Hello all,

I've got a rather large trough to plant up. I've decided on a central rose and I was thinking scabiosa round the edge. Can anyone suggest something that could sit happily between the two? Thank you!

    Perhaps low-growing hardy geranium or for foliage, Lady’s Mantle (Alchemilla Mollis)?
