Clematis in pots?
in Plants
Evening everyone. My first post as I'm a bit of a newbie!.I have 3 trellis in my garden which I erected to give some privacy.i am thinking of planting evergreen clematis (armandii?) In big pots to grow up it.is this possible?or does it really need to go into the ground?.my wife also was looking at an evergreen honeysuckle?.if these are not suitable, can you recommend something please.each trellis is 7ft×4ft.we are also planting bamboo in big beds(Well sealed from the ground).either side of the trellis.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The reason is due to worrying about the root system and the soil is quite clayee. If the roots won't be a problem I will try to plant in the soil.is there anything else you can advise to plant?
If you have clay soil then dig in compost and/or manure, which clematis likes anyway, to help break it up and improve the texture.
Honeysuckle is OK too.
