How to choose a tree

Saturday's Telegraph had a brilliant excerpt from Jim Buckland's book 'At West Dean' all about planting a tree. The article also referred to the website of The Trees & Design Action Group which is a charity to increase awareness of trees in the built environment. (Tdag.org.uk/)
They have a tree selector download with a spreadsheet which can be sorted to produce a tailored list for you. Sounds good to me.

That sound really useful, Lizzie. Is JB’s article available somewhere to non-Telegraph readers? There was a time it was free to browse gardening content their website, but its restricted now. You can get as far as the first bullet point but to read the rest you have to register!
