Identification of Ilex? species please

This shrub (which I am referring to as an Ilex) was a poor soul when I came to this garden.  I have helped it to recover over 14 years and although it is encompassed by a hardy cyclamen it has produced flowers for the first time since I adopted it.  I am placing two photos of a section of a flowering stem in the hope that someone can help me to give it a name and I can then label for the future.

    hmm... it has a Desfontainia spinosa look about it..

    I'm not familiar enough with that one to comment but it doesn't have the look of an IIex

    I was wondering if those buds were going to turn into tubular flowers, but enlarging it I'm not sure they're going to do that.. so maybe something else entirely..

    what about Ilex cornuta, I've never seen that but Google has

    nutcutlet is (yet again) correct ! :)
    Ilex cornuta (Chinese Holly) it most certainly is !
    My own Desfontainea has a much smaller leaf ,and flowers much later in the year .
