Roadside wild plant

I spotted a clump of this the other day while out with my dog.
At first glance I thought it was a heather, then thought clover, then noticed the leaves..
Just out of idle curiosity - anyone know ?

The plant was sprawled over about an area of about 1ft and about 6" high, and on the edge of a footpath. Quite a few flowers made it eye-catching

Most likely Fumaria Officinalis, Common Fumitory.
  • Definitely Fumitory, I have just removed some from my garden, very pretty but seeds prolifically.

I know this as drug fumitory or earth smoke, its a herbaceous annual in the poppy family, it has some herbal uses in skin disease and conjunctivitis, but is poisonous so don't try it at home.

Thank you all - I'll leave well alone and admire it from the roadside.
