Does anyone know what this is?

I have about 3 or 4 of these start to grow in my front lawn, does anyone know what they are or what they are growing into? I'm assuming it's some sort of weed. I've never seen them.

Thanks,

Oh dear, it looks horribly like horsetail, an invasive and very persistent weed. You can stop it spreading if you pull every bit of it as soon as it appears.

I agree marestail, horsetail if its only in the lawn then mowing should keep it under control total eradication is very difficult.

  • Hope you don't get it in your flower beds. It is a nightmare to eradicate, it's a pre-historic weed. My daughter's garden is full of it. I have tried everything to remove it without success, next option ........move house!!

  • Thanks everyone, I guess I best get the gloves on and get outside!
