Its a bromeliad ... looks like Bilbergia nutans aka Queen’s Tears, Queen’s Earrings etc. The flowers are quite long lasting and will continue to develop.

It looks absolutely fine as it is. A lovely plant.
Keep it in good light but not bright sunlight. Water when the soil an inch below the surface feels dry (stick your finger in) and don’t let the pot stand in water.
They're tough plants so don’t worry about it. Enjoy
