Is this a weed?

We’ve got loads of this in the garden at the moment, it seems a bit like a weed to me!

Nope  :) looks to me like Centaurea Montana ... one of my favourite flowers.
Each autumn the plants are raided by goldfinches for the seeds ... magic  :)

Must be your particular ants @B3 😉 ... ours don’t seem interested in them, and we’re on light land so we do have ants.

Mine definitely have agricultural tendencies. They line the black aphids all the way up the stems. Same on my artichoke.

Thanks for the replies! I recognise it now after researching the flower. The leaves must be similar to another plant I was thinking of that's more of a weed.

Would this be classed as a thug? It seems to have taken over a bit!

I wouldn't say so. It's easy to hoik out if you don't like it.

You can lift it and split the clump, so you could replant in other places (if you like it !), or maybe give some to any gardening friends.
