I have been trying to obtain this salvia, but am having trouble sourcing a mail order supplier. I know Dysons sell it, but they don't do mail order and are many miles away. Just wondered if anyone could help ? Many thanks.
This white-woolly perennial herb, commonly found in the Kashmir valley, bears pale blue, nearly white flowers, which are are borne in spikes arranged in separated whorls, forming a branched cluster. It is hardy to Zone 7 although it may be evergreeen in warmer climes.
SOWING ADVICE
For best results, sow immediately onto a good soil-based compost. Cover the seeds with fine grit or compost to approximately their own depth. They can be sown at any time, and germination can sometimes be quicker if kept at 15 to 20 degrees C. We sow most seeds in an unheated greenhouse and wait for natural germination, as many seeds have built-in dormancy mechanisms, often waiting for natural spring germination, hence giving them a full season of growth.
Looks the most likely reason we can't find it on line Nollie. Looks very pretty so could be popular you will need to keep an eye open for it on line AnniD or if you have a really good nursery near you they might stock it after the show. Right must go search for perspex for my new cold frame.
? AnniD is looking for "So Cool Pale Blue". It is one from a series of "So cool" salvias bred in Australia. It won't be seed or plants it is so new (2014) with plant breeders rights. Dysons is a specialist so would have it.
AnniD I can't find it either, you had me looking, please lust after more common things ... You could ask them where they got it? Or who imports or wholesales it. It will probably be licensed propagation so some company over here may do it, and then might find out who they sell it to?
Robins Salvias is a man who collects them. A search found he had it but I could not find it on his site. But if he has it he might tell you where he got it from. http://www.robinssalvias.com/index.html He has a sense of humour and is a Salvia nut. you could email him..... See his environmental information at the bottom left of page. Good Luck!
