Mediterranean style planting

Good morning all... I need guidance to identify a small tree/shrub suitable for a courtyard garden for a Mediterranean style feel - have looked  at a 'loose' style olive but understand olives have disease problems at the moment so any suitable alternative suggestions - position is part to full sun - thank you

Pyrus salicifolia pendula or Eleagnus 'Quicksilver' grown as a multistem or standard might give you the look. (The Eleagnus can sucker, apparently, so that would push me towards the Pyrus in a formal setting).

Hello Janet, I can think of plenty of Mediterranean shrubs to recommend, but small trees... hmm, maybe an Arbutus Unedo (strawberry tree), prefers a slightly acid soil. You can grow an Oleander as a standard tree form, but could be too tender depending on your location...
