Bud Graft on a cordon apple tree?
I have 4 small columnar cordon fruit trees in my garden. 2 Pear and 2 Apple.
I am wondering if it would be possible for me to bud graft some other varieties onto the lower few buds of these trees. its something that I would like to try, but I am just wondering if it would be viable on column cordons, as there are no real branches just fruiting spurs?
Just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience of this and able to offer some advice?
Also, as this is just an idea at the moment I'm not sure where I would get suitable sion buds from, but if possible I would like to grow some additional varieties, in my small garden.
any ideas welcome.
