Purple sprouting broccoli

I’ve bought some early purple sprouting broccoli plug plants, and I’m wondering if they’ll crop in the summer as the ones I bought last year did?
I seem to be reading everywhere that it should be planted in July and August and crops late winter or early spring.
Im a little confused. Can anyone advise me what I should expect?

There is nowadays apparently an early type that crops in the summer , no idea what it’s called, but maybe that’s what you’ve got?

I had early purple crop last August/September. I put it down to the heat bringing them on early.  I think it was called Rudolph.

    Hi Fidgetbones,

Last year I bought some plug plants around May. Not sure what exact variety they were, but they were quite small. They grew very quickly and then cropped by the end of July.

Do yo think it was likely the weather that we had last year, or the variety of plant? Wouldn't really mind if I had a summer crop or had to wait until next spring.

I'm relatively new to growing brassicas so still doing a lot of trial and error.
