Plant and tree identification

phildigphildig Posts: 55
Hello and thank you for reading this message.
We've moved home. The property was empty for five years. We'd like to get on with the gardening but there are a few species around that we don't know and would like to find out before doing anything with them. Do you know what these are please?
1) tree that appears to have grown up in the middle of the lawn during the last five years. Photo attached is of some branch cuttings.
2) plant in border that grows up the wall like ivy.
Thank you.

No 1 might be Euonymus Elatus
No 2 looks like Hydrangea Petiolaris

Morning phildig, your top picture looks like Broom (Cytisus scoparius). I'm not too sure about the bottom picture but it could be a Weigela.

    I thought no1 looked like a cytisus (broom) ?
Agree no2 is a climbing hydrangea.

Yay Kitty, I think you nailed the second one. I hadn't looked closely enough to spot the stems climbing on the wall.

Funny, I thought I'd suggested the Hydrangea  ;)
The ridges on the stems in photo 1 made me think if the Euonymus, hey ho.

    Why funny Hosta?
Maybe you're on that "handy ignore list" you're so fond of 😉.
