I’ve not hear of anything detrimental about putting moss in a compost bin. Mix it up with the rest of your mixure.
    Why the concern ?

I’ve put masses of scarified material from my lawn, mostly this was moss, into the compost bin with no detrimental effects.

    Hello Steve,
Thanks for the advice.  My concern is that the moss will just spread and make the problem even worse when I come to use the compost around the garden in future.

The problem with moss in compost is that it can be slow to rot down, especially if you don't mix it up well. Unhappily, it will spread round your garden if the conditions are right, regardless of compost.

Yep, it’s slow to compost. That’s the main/only issue.
