Honeysuckle Gold Flame - bought in Morrisons in a small pot . Is it OK to plant it into the ground now or need to wait when it gets warmer ?

Thank you!

Personally l would wait. Have you had a look to see if it's got a good root system?  If they're filling the pot, it might be worth potting it on into a slightly larger one for the time being.  :)
  • Anni D may I ask why you suggest potting it on if the root system fills the pot? I'm curious as I've just ordered 2 and this seems to be the case with both.

    Thanks

A bigger, more substantial plant, with a good root system, will establish better, grow on well, and will also shrug off any pests and diseases more easily.
A small plant will be quite vulnerable to weather and soil conditions at this time of year if planted out now, even when it's a hardy plant like honeysuckle. If it gets a month or two more of growth, it will be tougher.
Small plants are also likely to have been grown in more protected conditions, so they need a bit of time to acclimatise too  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
