Petunia Tidal Red Velour

After watching the Gardeners World programme I have decided that I would like to try to grow these Petunias.  Would they be suitable for growing in a large pot and climbing up a trellis against a wall?  Where can I buy the seed - I have looked up Suttons and Marshalls/Unwins but none of these seed companies have them.

there are a few more. They’re not that easy to grow, if you’re relying on them may be better to look for the tiny plug plants.

Thanks Lyn, I am going to give the Petunias a go - ordered seeds from Dobies.

I ordered a packet of the petunia seed from Dobies yesterday.  They said due to the demand after the Gardeners World show they have been inundated with orders and have run out of packets at present but hope to have more available soon.

@Guernsey Donkey2 , maybe you can get a refund from Dobies, if you can get the seeds from elsewhere. Worth a try.

Sarah Raven also list them.  I ordered from Dobies as it said "average 30 seeds".  SR was "15 seeds".

In the packet from Dobies ..... 18 seeds.  Poor average I guess.

Hello Gurnsey Donkey2, I've grown and am growing these red velour petunias, I absolutely love them. I have only grown them in large pots but they spread and cascade great. I've used them in a customers flower beds and they spread out into a wonderful petunia carpet and they should be able to cover a trellis but may need a bit of help from you.

So it was you Marran that took the last packet of seeds that Dobbies had on offer!! Yes I also saw them in Sarah Raven's catalogue, I guess I should have ordered from her, or Dobies should have stated sold out on their ordering system maybe. Thanks for the extra information Johnny, I have a feeling that these plants are grown more in the USA - there were plenty of American sites selling the seeds. Thanks for all the input.  I will have a think of what to do next if the seeds don't turn up in a week or two.
