Buxus sempivirens

Id written off buying box as it was looking expensive and slow, but I’ve just found my supermarket is selling some 40cm tall ones cheap.

Im not quite sure whether I would put them in the front to eventually be a screening hedge...but that will take over a decade at 10cm per year.

A low hedge to line a path, but I was set on using lavender in place of box.

Or grow them as individuals front garden and back in raised beds.

🧐

Thoughts?

Which supermarket and how much are they please?  I'm looking for some box to make a low hedge.

Box grows quicker than that in my garden - needs a trim twice a year! But don't buy them just because they look a bargain.  I'm not buying any more because of the twin threats of box blight and box caterpillar which seems to be spreading.

Morrison’s - I forget the price I’m afraid.  I’ll try to get some tomorrow morning and post up the size and price.

They’re about 35-40cm tall , so a significant  discount to any others I’ve seen online.  Only problem was that there were only two left!
