Last year I bought a few mixed plug plants of these for a bare patch awaiting a decision about which perennial to plant there this year. They scrambled about and covered a fair area. The best thing was that they didn't need constant dead heading but I did need to check for slugs under the trailing/scrambling stems regularly. I shall do the same again in another such bare patch elsewhere in the garden this year.
I bought some for my daughter just the usual type and they did spread themselves about, I can’t think why trailing plants wouldn’t work so would be worth a try!
