Do I need a licence?

Hi, I was wondering if I need to obtain a licence to sell house plants and veg plants online. I was thinking about setting up a shop on Etsy.co.uk but I’m not sure if a licence is required to do so. All I can see on the Etsy website is that sellers are responsible but no actual answer, that I can see anyway. I won’t be selling plants/veggies outside of the uk. Just uk only. I would be grateful for any help or/and response.
Thank you.

I'd speak to the tax office, then you will know your getting the correct advice. Think about it if you bought something and it didn't work or died you would take it back to the shop and it also applies to on line shopping.

HMRC will tell you you need to pay tax. Generally you don’t need a licence to sell plants but there are exceptions. Google will give you a link to the relevant Gov.uk page.

Also look up distance selling regulations?
There will be guidelines and rules you may have to adhere to.
And also if you have difficult customers how to deal with them and protect yourself too.
    Good Luck.

I am an Etsy seller. I don't know about plants but for selling anything online, you need to register with HMRC for self assessment.
