What could be doing this to my grape hyacinths in pots?

Hi

I have some grape hyacinths in pots and something has nipped off both the leaves and flower stems. All at the same height and really neatly (see pictures)

There are other pots with Daffs and other bulbs that are completely untouched?

My initial thought was rabbits. It's very neatly done !

Rabbits are the most likely culprits. They'll eat almost anything emerging at this time of year.

Let’s hope they don’t eat those hundreds of slug pellets. 😱
four pellets in a pot is enough.

True, but there’s no point in saying that😀

I thought squirrels left grape hyacinths alone tbh, but l can't think what else it could be. Birds maybe ?

Unless you have remarkably good fencing or live on an island or in the middle of a city you can’t assume you don’t have rabbits just because you’ve not seen any ...

  • The estate who owns the land around my home gasses any rabbits as soon as they are found. It could be Rabbits I suppose but in the 15 years I have lived here I have never seen a single one or heard anyone speak of seeing one. I just seems strange that out of the 14 pots around the affected two, what ever it is, chose those two and only those two....
