i was thinking more in the diameter one said it has to be 14 inches but another said 12 inches would be OK so I was looking for someone else's opinion for confirmation
I have grown dahlias in pots and I would think 12 to 14 inches in diameter would be adequate. However I did find that very tall dahlias in pots tend to blow over in strong winds here. I have grown Bishop of Llandaff in pots putting them out of the way of strong winds..
Some dahlias grow well over a metre tall ... they need a well sized pot or they will overbalance in the lightest winds ... check the height of your dahlia varieties.
