Magnolia 'Red Lucky' - Have they died? :-/

polbpolb Posts: 198
I Planted two Magnolia 'Red Lucky' last year around summer time and they never really did very much. They would come to life (slightly) then wilt. One also had some fungus growing up the bark which I treated. At the moment they both just look like sticks in the ground for the birds to perch on. Should I be seeing some signs of life or is it too early?

If they are still alive..does anyone have any tips on helping them along?

Thank you!

My magnolias have furry buds on the end of the twigs. If you have those they are probably OK. If not, give it another two months. If nothing grows they are dead. Planting anything last summer was risky unless you watered them well every day. I was spending up to three hours a day watering in the heatwave.
