Holes in my Fuji Apple tree trunk

I have found these holes in the trunk of my young Fuji Apple tree trunk.
I live in the Costa Blanca in Spain in the seaside town of Denia. The crown looks healthy and is in bud. I'd hate to loose it. Can it be helped to recover??? Thank you very much. pleaseloose it.

It looks like canker to me.

Nothing to be done. Accept the inevitable.
Apophthegm -  a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
  • it's been suggested that it may be apple tree borers. Unfortunately, not a lot I can do either. Next time, painting the tree trunk with white latex paint me thinks.
