Where is the best position for Camelia Japonica in the container.

Can anyone help please? Can I put Camelia Japonica in the South facing part of the garden with plenty of afternoon sunshine or is it better in the shade to avoid hot sun in the afternoon? Thank you

I would not leave them out in a south facing aspect, especially in a pot. Camellias need moisture in the soil, and in a pot, they tend to dry out quicker. A west or north westerly aspect is best.

Others might have a different view. A south aspect can still be shadier at this time of year, so for me it's all about how much exposure to the sun. I don't think any more than 4 hours right now.
