Butterfly Lavander spreading out

Hello, I am in the south west France.  I have a butterfly Lavender that has kind of flattened and spread since last summer.  Not sure why or how to prune or remedy that ?  Any ideas?  I'll post a pic, hopefully you see what I mean :) .... Merci !

I would say there’s nothing can be done with that, I would buy another if it were mine.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • That is so annoying after it having been there for a few years !  But Thank you :)  Its become very woody as well.  Wasn't sure if I could cut it all back and hope for the best !

I would cut it all back, but be prepared to get another one.  It probably won't grow back but it's worth a try.
Another approach would be to leave the part that has the new shoots growing for a little while until the new shoots get a bit longer, then take some cuttings, and then cut back the old woody branches.

  • Thank you both !  I guess, with nothing to lose, I'll cut it back and see what happens !
