I sowed a tray of Ailsa Craig onion seed, new packet. Gentle heat, 4 weeks ago and not a single seed has germinated. Used seed compost. Last year no problems - any ideas anyone?
I’ve just ordered those onion seeds, always had Bedfordshire Champ before, but I won’t be sowing until March, without heat, (never used a propagator) do you always sow this early?
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
I sow mine in 7 days but I'm more northern than most of you, so the timing is fine. after 4 weeks I would try again, probably wasting your time on those. If not one has germinated I would be looking at the packet, is it old? Or has it possibly been left in a windowledge or something like that to overheat. I'm with Lyn on the type though, Bed Champ and Red baron!
