Houseplant

I was given a Gerbera plant several years ago. It flowers beautifully about twice a year but the leaves keep dying off. It is the most unhealthy looking plant and just when I decide to throw it out up pops another beautiful flower. Where am I going wrong?

Quite a few Gerberas do better outdoors from late spring into autumn. I think the leaves will always look tatty and unhealthy looking. Just pull or cut them out when they start to die out. In the winter time, keep it moist, but no need to water heavily. Keep them somewhere quite cool but bright with plenty of bright light.
