  • Our Bottle Brush (I thought they originated in New Zealand)incidentall called Callistemon which has red bracts is growing freely in our garden.  By being in a pot do you think the roots are too restricted?

It would be good to see the size of plant and the pot. Even at 4 ft high, your plant may need more bushing out. Are you growing it in a loam based compost? Also, make sure they are placed somewhere with plenty of sun throughout the year. Guernsey Donkey2, that is a magnificent looking shrub!

This isin my daughters garden in Cornwall, not sure if they are suited to the welsh climate?

  • Lyn, this plant is far tidier than our unruly Bottle Brush, is it growing in a pot? Thank you Borderline - there are plenty of them growing over here, they do stand out don't they.

It’s in the ground, but very poor soil, builders rubble and chippings. She tidies it up a bit after flowering, maybe that triggers it to flower next year.

  • Tell your daughter that she is doing a good job, it does look lovely - good condition and has far more bracts than ours has for the size of the plant.
