Germinating Silver Birch

Hi guys, brand newbie here , just wondering if someone can tell me how the Nurseries start Silver Birch from seed?   I have tried inside/outside, heatpads,cuttings etc etc but aren't having much luck or if someone can share an easier method please?    TIA

Fresh seed, gritty compost, layer of grit on top, leave outside over winter, germinate in spring (or earlier.
always copy what happens naturally

Do they self seed naturally where you live? The seed needs a period of cold to germinate well so if it doesn't get too cold there you might need to keep them in damp sand in the fridge for a month or so to kick them into life.

They are usually easy to germinate but the seeds may not come true. You will get an attractive tree but it may not look like its mum if there were other types of birch about.
