    Thousands of them in this garden GD.  Locally known as "gendarmes".   In our garden they congergate in big huddles.   They like malva seeds - loads of wild ones here - and hibiscus fruits and we have several of those two.  They'll eat the eggs of other insects too - hope that includes cabbage whites and aphids!
    Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
