By “North west area of the UK” do you mean NW Scotland? If so, are you favoured by the warming effects of the Atlantic Ocean’s Gulf Stream? Or are you perched half way up a mountain?
Or do you mean north west England? And again, are we talking about views of Scafell Pike or the warming effects of Sellafield?
Here in the not too balmy Peak District, I grow a Rochester on a dwarf rootstock in a pot. It’s about a metre tall now, including the pot, and is outside as I write. The flower buds are only just beginning to show and I shall leave it outside until there is a threat of a bad frost or until the flower buds begin to break.
It lives outside for most of the year.
Here is a brief description of it, but they only have large rootstocks.
Hi Jason, if you want to grow in the ground rather than pot then I highly recommend 'Avalon pride'. This variety is resistant to peach leaf curl, a problem for peaches grown outdoors in the UK, especially anywhere paricularly wet in the spring. Here's a photo of mine from summer, growing in the front (south-facing) garden:
The fruit is the same size as you would buy from a shop.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Yes, it has from the beginning.
Here it was in the first year - 2010. I don’t have a more recent photo, but a lot of fruit each year.
Rochester would be fine for you.
